That how much Pearson Jeep told me it would be to fix the ABS light issue on the ZJ.
Spent $89 and two hours there this afternoon having them run the diagnostics on and pull the codes from the ABS system.
Was hoping it would show a bad wheel sensor and I could have them reset the light since all of the sensors have been pulled out, cleaned, reinstalled and the tone rings cleaned.
If it re-activated, I would replace the bad sensor; if not I was good to go.
Nope.
"Pump Motor Circuits Not Working Properly" is the code definition causing the light to come on.
All of the wheel speed sensors check out fine.
Tech actually complimented me on how clean the ride was for ten years old and 131K miles.
Says the hydraulic control unit (pump motor) for the ABS system needs to be replaced.
The part is $1293.00, plus 2.5hrs labor to install it for a total repair estimate of $1635.28
Not gonna happen.
He was cool though, and gave me the part number if I wanted to find a used one somewhere.
I guess I'll be unplugging that bulb so it will pass inspection.
From what I read on JU, the system goes in to "bypass" mode and operates like normal power brakes when the controller or pump is not functioning, you just lose the anti-lock feature.
Hmmph.
