There's what looks to be an early to mid-80's C20 pickup down at CAR behind the fence. Can't get up close to look at it, but hopefully they'll be putting it out in the 'yard in a couple of weeks.....all I can see is that it has 8 lug axles on it (2WD). Any idea what the engine/tranny combo might be in it? What are the odds on it having a 454 (probably 2-bolt mains, but.....still a 454) under the hood?
If it does, I think I just found the drivetrain for the Nova build :)

if yur looking for a 454 you need to start looking for a 90-91 chevy 454 ss as a donor. they were badass and i know there are some wrecked ones out there.

hmmm...90-91 you say.....I'll have to refine my searches a bit, thanks.
Chuck, I've been trolling that board and getting some good info, thanks for the link. Also, FYI, there's an 88 (or 89, I can't remember) Chebby p/u down there with a completely intact, as of yesterday, 4.3L in it. Nice looking master cylinder and booster, too...

What do you want the 454 for? That truck likely has a 350 or 400 small block. YOU can build a 350 or 400 with plenty of power and a ton less weight up front. Roger built his SBC 400 with close to 450hp that is reliable. A ton better tranny options without adapters as well.

Ron,
the drivetrain is for a street/strip rod Nova, not a 4X4....
ain't no replacement for displacement :fingerlic
I could build a SB up, with mucho dinero on internals and bolt-ons, or even buy one already built, but I just want to drop big displacement in behind a TH400 or 700R4 and go zoom :)
