How involved is what you have to do?
Do you have manuals on this car?
Do you know exactly what it takes to do this?
Are any specialty tools required that you don't have?
Is it guaranteed to be done in a weekend?
I don't want to end up with a dead car blocking access to my Garage.

There are a lot of replies about shifter bushings...still trying to find out more on those and where the F they are located.

These are the shifter bushings I was talking about...now IF these broke or popped out than the shifter cables would disconnect from the shifter giving you a dead stick...lol dead stick :P

Is the shifter just freely moving around like there is no shift "tree" or pattern? If so it may be the bushings...

http://www.srtforums.com/forums/f75/how-replace-shift-selector-tab-483473/

Well i was forced to do this a few week night ago on the ground with basic hand tools.....no punch, no mallet, no hammer.....just asphalt and basic tools literally. I did have my laptop and sure enough just to refresh myself i get on here only to find big fat equis everywhere. So heres my simple/quick how to

Tools needed:

13mm wrench
13mm socket w/ corresponding rachet and extensions
punch set
mallet(s)
vice <<<------ VERY IMPORTANT
common sense:lol:

This operation can be done with tranny still mounted to the car and tranny mount still on aswell. You will be adding more work by removing more than you have to, to access the shift selector plate remove:

-intake
-battery
-battery tray
-remove shifter cables

at this point the plate is in plain view and showld look like this: (note my picture is upside down of what you will see, the way it was taken makes it easier to explain)
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y167/DominicanDan/How0.jpg

at this point you want to remove the plate from the trans, i will not lie some of the bolts require some ingenuity to remove while trans is on/in the car but it can be done. So
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y167/DominicanDan/How1.jpg
^^^the trick to that last bolt is, as you loosen you must lift/hold plate away from trans to give yourself room to further loosen it. When you put it back on you wanna do this bolt first.....obviously:hi:

Now that you have the plate out you want to place it in the vice like shown below. Make sure your plate is in same position as shown
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y167/DominicanDan/How2.jpg
^^^ ive included simple instructions, the one on the right is harder to get out because its pressed in good but it will come out and if you cant get it out you cant replace the shift selector. Its a Cache22:readclose

Once you have punched both of those out the shaft will be free, PLEASE only slide it far enough so that you can remove the Shift selector/sleeve around it from the plate to replace whats broken
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y167/DominicanDan/How3.jpg
^^^ when putting it all back together you want to punch in/secure the selector tab then the shaft.

hope this helps.....i dont feel that any competent person should have a hard time doing this. ITS NOT THAT HARD!!!!

WTF? Mack offered you the garage but he wanted to know your plan first. We just don't have room to have another car sitting around here, so he wants to make sure its something that can be done in less than a weekend.

I think Taylor's venting more towards his "crew" not being around... :p

Did you get that shifter plate off?
