thats the years where u dont have to chop down the pass side or outboard your springs to make them fit under the heep correctly I.E. the perches are the same width as stock jeep width. I don't want to outboard I just redid the front end hangers and I can just wait for one to come along even if it does take a while :/

I don't know what I'll be running for tires yet, possibly 44's, at least 38's. For awhile it'll be sitting on the same suspension my chevy was, stock leaves and shackle flip in the rear, 4" lifted leaves up front. No tubework for awhile either.

I have to finish my 4runner and sell it first though, so I'll have some kind of budget for this thing.

I and others wheeled it here and I rolled it in Crozet on the old Comp trails and decided that when you get THAT big the other is not as fun... :(

some will say that they want 40" + tires and start going that route but I think for what we wheel around these parts that 37's is pretty much the max tire you should be running...

any tire larger I don't think it's worth it unless you are in competitions...


but my first off road rig was a 1972 Chevy stepside with a 396 and D60's front and rear sitting on 38" ground hawgs :D.....of course I was in SWVa and mud was the thing back then :D

ive had 2 limbs fall on the tj, hit one tree, and had another one fall over in a storm and destroy my sotf top frame and fabric

as for body damage im not to worried about rock rash, battered side steps from bolders, beat bumpers or mangled fenders...however hitting a tree is still hitting a tree and it sucks cuz it can fuck your suspension.
the whole reason i got a lift when i did was the tree i hit

-busted radiator
-broke a motor mount
-mangled the control arm brackets
-busted my steering box
-offset the steering column
-liberated me from the fear of everyday wheeling body damage
